At Hersill we believe in the transformative power of education and in the positive impact that family businesses can have on society. Therefore, it has been a real pleasure to collaborate in a new edition of the Family Business in the Classroom Programme, promoted by ADEFAM and supported by the Regional Ministry of Education, Science and Universities, which aims to awaken the entrepreneurial spirit of students and bring them closer to the reality of family businesses.
Last Friday, 17th October, we welcomed 50 students from the Microcomputer and Network Systems and Telecommunications Installations Intermediate Level Training Cycle at our facilities at the Andel Technological Institute in Alcorcon. It was a unique morning, full of curiosity and enthusiasm, in which the young people were able to learn about the essence of our family business, with more than 50 years of history dedicated to innovation in the healthcare technology sector.
The day began with a talk by our chairman, Benjamin Herranz, who shared his personal and professional experience at the helm of Hersill. During his speech, he addressed key issues about family businesses: their importance in the economy, the challenges they face, and the values that define them –commitment, closeness, long-term vision and social responsibility-, inviting students to reflect and participate with questions, generating a close and enriching dialogue.
At the same time, our head of our IT department, Jorge Sanchez de la Rua, had the opportunity to explain to the students not only his day-to-day work but also how “The IT department helps everything to run smoothly, solving problems and making the company work faster and safer”.
The students were then taken on a guided tour of our facilities, where they were able to see first-hand how we develop and manufacture life-saving medical equipment. We toured our production and development areas, showing the most advanced technological processes and the human effort behind each product, making it clear that innovation and commitment go hand in hand at Hersill.
For us, opening the doors of the company to the new generations is not only an educational activity, but also a way of transmitting values, inspiring vocations and awakening talent. Initiatives like this strengthen the link between education and business, and help young people understand that behind every company there are people committed to building a better future.
We would like to express our sincere thanks to ADEFAM, the Andel Institute of Technology and all the students who participated with enthusiasm, curiosity and energy. This experience has been extremely enriching and reaffirms our commitment to training, innovation and the promotion of young talent, pillars that have guided our work for more than five decades.
