The work of nurses is invisible to many, but essential to all. It is they who are at the bedside of patients in the most critical moments, who provide not only medical care, but also comfort, reassurance and companionship. They are often the first line of contact in hospitals, clinics and homes, making a difference in the lives of those in vulnerable moments.
Every 12 May, we celebrate International Nurses Day, a day dedicated to recognising the tireless dedication of nurses, who are at the forefront of patient care, offering not only their knowledge and skills, but also their time, patience and humanity.
Nurses do not simply attend to the physical needs of patients, but care deeply about their emotional well-being. Their ability to listen, understand and connect with each person who passes through their hands is what enables them to provide holistic care. This empathy transforms every interaction, creating a bond of trust that is fundamental to patients’ recovery and peace of mind.
The commitment these professionals show in their work goes beyond their working day. At all times, they are willing to give their best, adapting to the changing circumstances and needs of each patient. On every shift, no matter the time, nurses take responsibility for the health and safety of those in their care, knowing that every action can have a direct impact on someone’s life.
Throughout their careers, they face critical decisions that require not only technical skills, but also judgement, dedication and, above all, a deep professional ethic. Nurses are constantly assessing and responding to the needs of their patients, working in collaboration with other healthcare professionals, and ensuring that each patient receives the care they need.
At all times, respect for patients is an essential pillar of nursing work. Each person is treated with dignity, regardless of their condition or history. Nurses respect patients’ autonomy, support their decisions and provide care that takes into account the individuality of each human being.
Today, on International Nurses Day, we want to pay tribute to all nurses, especially those who work in emergency situations, where every second counts and every decision is vital. At Hersill, we are proud to be part of the support they need in their work, providing them with medical tools such as the emergency backpacks and the Vitae 40, which allow a quick and efficient response in critical moments.
This day is an opportunity to give thanks for the silent but essential work they do on a daily basis. Because caring for those who care for us is also a priority, and we will continue to support nurses in their efforts to provide the best care for all patients.
