At Hersill, we strongly believe in health as a universal right, and our collaboration with Recover Foundation has allowed us to bring hope and progress to the communities in Cameroon. Through this partnership, we are working to improve healthcare conditions at two centres that are vital to their residents: the Tonga Medical Centre and the Bamendjou Medical Centre.

Tonga Medical Centre: Renewing the heart of community healthcare

Nestled in the west of Cameroon, the Tonga Medical Centre, founded in 1969, has become a healthcare refuge for over 10,000 people. However, infrastructure and equipment limitations had compromised its ability to provide adequate care. An operating theatre without a functional autoclave, laboratories lacking appropriate technology, and insufficient hygiene conditions were the daily challenges faced by both professionals and patients.

Aware of this reality, at Hersill we have stepped up to transform this centre into a stronger pillar for its community. The addition of a surgical autoclave ensures proper sterilisation of materials, while a multiparameter monitor, an electric suction device, and a state-of-the-art microscope have modernised the capabilities of the operating theatre and laboratory. Additionally, the donation of six mobile hospital beds and power regulators ensures the continuity of medical services amidst frequent power outages.

Bamendjou Medical Centre: A beacon of hope for mothers and children

In the rural area of Bamendjou, where economic challenges are evident, the local medical centre, founded in 1957, is an essential resource for over 20,000 people. This facility is crucial for maternal and child care, as well as for the treatment of endemic diseases, but its limitations have put the lives of many patients at risk.

Hersill has made a significant contribution to strengthening this centre with the delivery of vital medical equipment. A surgical autoclave, a cardiac monitor, and an electric suction device now ensure safer procedures, while the mobile beds enhance patient comfort and well-being. The addition of power regulators has ensured electrical stability, protecting the equipment and enabling uninterrupted service.

Thanks to these interventions, in the words of the organisation, the quality of care at both centres has significantly improved, directly benefiting over 4,200 people each month and extending a positive impact to more than 30,000 people in the region. However, our commitment goes beyond equipment. We have worked on training healthcare staff to maximise the use of the new devices, ensuring a sustainable impact that will continue to change lives.

At Hersill, our mission is clear: to contribute to a future where everyone, regardless of where they live, has access to quality healthcare. We will continue working alongside the Recover Foundation, combining technology and solidarity, to bring hope where it is needed most.
