Hersill is strengthening its partnership with the 5th Conference on Firefighter Paramedics

Continuing professional development and the exchange of knowledge play a vital role in the evolution of healthcare, particularly in a field as demanding as emergency care. With this in mind, at Hersill we are collaborating on the 5th Conference for Firefighter Paramedics, which will take place on 6 October 2026 in Andorra.

Organised by the Chair of Mountain and Outdoor Medicine and Clinical Simulation at the University of Girona, this conference will bring together professionals from various fields of emergency medicine to share experiences, update their knowledge and analyse the latest scientific evidence on pre-hospital management and the care of critically ill patients.

Over the course of its five editions, this event has established itself as a leading forum for firefighters, nursing staff, doctors and other professionals involved in the care of patients in highly complex situations. It provides a platform that fosters shared learning, the ongoing updating of care procedures and collaboration between the various stakeholders in the emergency services system.

As manufacturers of healthcare technology, at Hersill we believe that supporting initiatives such as this contributes to the professional development of those working on the front line of care and helps to ensure that healthcare becomes increasingly safe and effective.

A scientific programme focusing on out-of-hospital care

The 5th Conference for Firefighter Paramedics will feature a scientific programme aimed at sharing experiences, reviewing protocols and presenting the latest evidence on the management of critically ill patients.

During the conference, some of the key challenges facing out-of-hospital care will be addressed through presentations given by leading professionals:

  • Consensus document on hypothermia: why is it necessary?, by Dr Robert Blasco of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital.
  • The NOVI procedure and the organisation of the Advanced Medical Post (PMA), presented by professionals from SDIS 66 (Service Départemental d’Incendie et de Secours des Pyrénées-Orientales).
  • Hospital management of hypothermia and an update on the latest scientific evidence,
    presented by Dr Michelle Laurens.
  • Defibrillation and cardiopulmonary resuscitation in patients with hypothermia below 30 °C, once again with Dr Robert Blasco.
  • Initial management of patients with acute traumatic spinal cord injury, presented by Dr Miguel Angel Gonzales of Vall d’Hebron University Hospital.
  • Management of cardiac arrest due to accidental hypothermia and indications for ECMO in grade III and IV hypothermia, presented by Dr Eduardo Argudo.
  • Prevention, detection and pre-hospital assessment, led by Carles Perez, a nurse with the Medical Emergency Service (SEM).

The programme combines the latest scientific developments with clinical experience to provide a practical insight into some of the most important clinical procedures in the field of emergency medicine.

The 5th Conference on Firefighter Paramedics will once again turn Andorra into a meeting place for emergency services professionals, promoting the exchange of knowledge and keeping up to date with the latest scientific developments in a field where training is essential.

At Hersill, we are delighted to be part of this initiative and to continue supporting events that contribute to professional development and the strengthening of out-of-hospital care.
