As part of its collaboration with the Recover Foundation, Hersill has helped improve the electrical installation of a rural hospital in Cameroon. In this country, 80 per cent of the population does not have regular access to electricity.

This has particularly alarming consequences for healthcare structures, hampering care and putting patients’ lives at risk. With the support of the Saint Dominique Hospital in Djunang, Hersill promotes the achievement of the WHO Sustainable Development Goal 7, related to the progress of energy.

Although the hospital has access to the electricity grid, it suffers numerous power cuts that expose the hospital’s equipment to damage. In addition, the buildings were not fire-protected and, in 2021, the centre suffered a fire on the roof of the delivery room, exposing professionals and patients to great risk.

Fundacion Recover, with the help of the financing of Hersill, after an inspection of the electrical system by a specialist, has carried out a project in which the electrical system of the center has been repaired; defective lamps, plugs and switches have been replaced and the selective protection elements have been joined through the installation of a low-voltage general panel. in the main building and secondary panels in other buildings, which are supplied by the Eneo electric meter.

In addition, after the ground cable section was found to be inadequate, an additional cable was installed, thus improving the ground network of the sanitary facilities and lightning rods have been installed in various sanitary buildings.

Moreover, equipment has been acquired for the centre: an electrocardiogram, a urine analyser and a haematology apparatus, which are essential equipment for the centre and are now adequately protected against damage after short circuits.
